INSIGHT KIDNEY has garnered attention and recognition in the medical and design fields. Nominated for both the esteemed ‘German Medical Award’ and the prestigious 'German Design Award' in 2023, this application delves into essential knowledge about kidney diseases affecting individuals of all ages.
Health challenges can be daunting, especially when facing conditions like Immunoglobulin A nephropathy (IgAN), C3 glomerulopathy (C3G), atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS), and lupus nephritis (LN) that impact the vital organ system, the kidney.
Often affecting young individuals between 20 and 40 years of age, these diseases bring profound implications for adolescents and even children. Statistics from 2017 indicate that diseases like C3G affect fewer than 4,000 patients, while aHUS affects less than 2,000 individuals in countries such as the United States.
Powered by ARKit, INSIGHT KIDNEY employs augmented reality to offer users an immersive journey into understanding common kidney conditions such as CKD, aHUS, IgAN, C3G, and LN. With our virtual assistant ANI as a guide, users can navigate through detailed anatomical representations of normal and diseased kidneys.
This groundbreaking initiative aims to bridge the information gap for patients by visualizing rare kidney diseases accurately in 3D representations. By showcasing pathological changes alongside precise anatomical details, INSIGHT KIDNEY provides invaluable insights into the conditions and severity of CKD, aHUS, IgAN, C3G, and LN.
